Water
There is something absolutely indescribable about the Sea. It speaks more to your heart than your mind; and maybe it is here that we are most aptly connected with it. At some point in our lives, most of us have been somewhat mesmerized while gazing at a large expanse of uninterrupted water. At this moment I'm looking at the ocean, and on the surface are innumerable small little ripples that give a perfectly imperfect texture to an otherwise smooth surface. Amidst this tapestry there are large, rhythmic swells. These are my favorite because they seemingly come from nowhere, and eventually terminate somewhere along an unseen shore that I imagine as a curling wave before it crashes.
Costa MarinaOut here on a cruise ship there is ocean in every direction, and it is those large swells that create this wonderful up and down, side to side rolling motion that safely connects you with it in a tangible way, without any need for immersion. That motion is hypnotizing, and will rock me to sleep at night as though I were an infant back in the cradle. I've tried to describe the sensation, but for these reasons and more it refuses to be understood, and must simply be felt and experienced from within. Has it not been shown that we are primarily water in composition? The connection is innate.
Now to go full tilt into sensory overload we can step outside on the deck and feel the strong breeze of the air, the sunshine on our skin, and see birds flying just above the water in concert with the ship. Can you feel it? How wonderful is it that humanity has created these great vessels upon the water to offer us these experiences? My greatest challenge at this time is to control the indulgences of the food aboard ship. More often than not I'm eating when I'm not even hungry because it looks so good. For sure there is nothing wrong with that! I was well into my 40's before taking my first cruise, but now I think I'm hooked just like a fish! Cruising can be detailed and elaborate with schedules, show times, and excursions. But the opportunity also exists to just sit and be with the elements, your fellow passengers, without the need to do anything in particular. For many of you I'll bet this is not your first time.
The ocean also holds deeper secrets; and it is coming time for us to begin some dialogue about the lost continent of Atlantis. We are in the area! Well, maybe not just yet... let's go to Morocco first!

Re: Water
Did you doubt that guy in the airport telling you that you're a writer because that post just put me right there with you feeling the ocean breeze and swell of the water that I am swaying in my seat. Thanks for that! Enjoy yourself and EAT EAT EAT! That's the second best part of the cruise.

Re: Water
I see the seabirds and can feel the ocean mist upon my face. There just ain't nothin' better than sittin' in a boat on the water!
