Voices

Thu 22 July, 2010

Sitting at the airport, waiting for the first of two flights, is quite an experience when traveling with all of you. A litany of voices float through my head, delivered like a gentle melody. Fortunately you are courteous of others, and speak in turn, otherwise I'd be crazy for sure! Here's a sample:

"Let's have fun, but Please be SAFE"  -I'd wager you know who you are...

"Let's walk over to the food court"  -But didn't we eat only an hour ago, I plead...

"I really don't like flying, are you sure we won't get sick?"  -Don't worry, I've got ya covered.

"Did you notice what that lady is wearing?" - I know, people are so fascinating!

And then some of you sit very still and quiet, wearing big dark sunglasses, and seated side by side we wait patiently.

This trip to Nicaragua is about to happen, and it is destined to unfold in three loosely planned installments. For those that like structure, I can give you the general layout for Part One.

In our first week, we will congregate with a group of Veterinary Volunteers, assembled from numerous points around the USA. We'll be lodging together in a villa, located within a large Eco-farm, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The small town below us is named San Juan del Sur; apparently a hot spot for all things beach, food, and culture. For three days our talents will be choreographed into a Spay and Neuter clinic. Apparently celibacy hasn't trickled into the local pet population, and the cost of surgery is prohibitive to most of the pet owners. So look out "Trixie" and "BooBoo", we're coming for a visit... The remaining days of Part One will be filled with nail-biting adventure I'm sure!

Survivor NicaraguaSurvivor Nicaragua

Just this morning I read on-line that the next TWO seasons (Seasons 21 and 22) of Survivor, are being filmed in Nicaragua, near San Juan del Sur. On numerous occasions in the past, several of you have tried to nudge me into applying to be a contestant on this popular reality program. Isn't it an amazing coincidence that they are overlapping with our visit to the same location? Personally, I find it to be VERY interesting indeed!

Another voice: "We should probably go to the restroom one more time before we get on the plane"  -I don't know if that was you or I, but it's a great idea!

Re: Voices

You go girl! I am so excited about your trip. i can live vicariously through you. I hope that we can 'steal' some excerpts from your blog to put into the new seed blog.

Please take lots of pics and video if you can. Especially when you do the volunteer work. And yes, you should go on Survivor!!!! My old boss developed the concept for that show. He now just opens envelopes with big cheques in them.

Love you loads and BE SAFE (directed at the voice who spoke it! ) Smile

Love,
Wilma xxxx

Re: Voices

missed the voice: lets sit in silent and lets stop wearing sunglasses for most time we have them on the top of our head!

fantastico!

Nice to see that their is place that is familiar to me: San Juan del sur

Juan is one of my names i got after birth as a child of Roman catholic parents and Sur is the spanish equivalent for suur for sure.

Follow you. Have fun and don,t listen too much to all those voices, just listen to your own. So forget this voice!

This was very well written. I was totally drawn in. Sounds like we're in for a grand adventure. I agree with Suur Maj, listen only to yourself. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
