Working Together

Sun 25 July, 2010

Rise and shine, grab a quick bite, put on your pristine blue World Vets scrub top, and hop in the truck. Pick up is at 7:15 AM. We made that bumpy drive down the mountain, into those dirt-packed, puddle filled, back streets of town, and pulled up outside of a cinder block, one story structure.  Within the next hour or two we managed to set up a make-shift anesthesia room, surgical room, recovery room, and a space to see pets for medical consultations. Great big luggage bags contained an abundance of the sorts of things we might need, along with limited amounts of those special items we needed to conserve. Some things would not last, but we are a resourceful bunch.

Heading to ClinicHeading to ClinicEveryone graciously agreed to separate into the smaller groups we would need to complete the duties of anesthesia, surgery, and recovery. Rigid schedules were pointless; we would rotate and change position as needed. What we had to work with was often makeshift, reminiscent of a MASH unit, but all voids were quickly filled by the pure intent of a group working together to give our best to these often ragamuffin pets.

You must have noticed me taking video when the work was slower. And after our third full day tomorrow, I'm sure to have plenty of footage to produce the penultimate movie reminder of our time together helping out the dogs (and few cats) of San Juan del Sur.

There really isn't much left to do as these dramatic and consuming days come to a close... hop in the pool, take a shower, eat, and tap away on the many laptops that litter our big villa. We love staying connected with our friends and family!

There are additional photos on the homepage carousel.

So whilst we labor, and sweat, with pets our constant companions... lets dream of our time sailing and swimming in the delightful Pacific Ocean.

Re: Working Together

Wow! It was getting a little hot on deck. But, boy....it felt so refreshing once we were in the water. I can still taste the salt on my lips as we got to the beach. The camcorder is fantastic.

Tienen una espectacular tiempo y no gastar demasiados Cordoba.

What a great swim!

Re: Working Together

OMG I sooooo loved swimming with you on this super hot day...ahhhhhh

Re: Working Together

I had no idea we had an "Action Jackson Underwater Ocean Cam" with us! How cool!!

I laughed out loud as we went into the water because I did not bring my bathing suit with me on the THE SAIL. I mistakenly assumed we were touring the area by boat. I love the water no matter what so this was a fabulous excursion! And that monkey was adorable.

More! More!

Re: Working Together

You are all so great!!!  I'm laughing too, because you don't realize how I almost drown trying to film and swim ashore. It reminded me (unpleasantly at the time) of a visit to Pawley Island, SC.  After treading water for a few minutes, the swim was way longer than it looked; and your feet didn't touch the sand until the last little bit.

We are going to be needing that great camera a lot on this trip, and the next one in November!

Re: Working Together

upgrade for next trip will be a setup to hold the camcorder on our heads so our hands are free to swim safely.

Re: Working Together

Great idea Alison, but I'm already ahead (Pun) of you....  you'll find out how soon!!!
