Video: Biking the Sacred Valley

Fri 3 June, 2011

As promised, here is the video memory of our time biking the countryside of the Andes mountains. That was a great day! Wouldn't you agree that there is something deeply satisfying about a well earned shower, a perfect meal with laughter, and profound fatigue at the end of a very full day outside?

Well, how about we do it again? The sun rose in Ollantaytambo, and birds were singing beyond the curtains. Rolling out of bed, we found that our bodies were protesting a tiny bit; but our hearts were thrilled with the idea of seeing a brand new place. Last night we were enchanted by more stars than you can even image, punctuated by the Southern Cross which can only be seen in the Southern Hemisphere. Now, by daylight, we found ourselves in a traditional village which has incorporated tourism with a respectful finesse. Ollantaytambo is another sacred and ancient location going back to the time of the Incas, including their fascinating time-tested structures to explore. Three valleys converge here, with towering mountains nestling this portrait. The Urubamba river flows not far from the posh comfort of our Ecolodge, and it is that river that will play host to our brand new day of excitement. Are you ready for some white water rafting after breakfast? Get your swimming suit ready and maybe a towel. The wet suits and all other gear will be provided. Here comes another adventure filled day, and probably a surprise or two, almost as if the script is not enough without the unexpected.

I'm working on the video during those infrequent moments before, or after, sleep, and will get it to you soon. In the interim please enjoy some more photos loaded to the gallery. This is such a fun trip, and I'm so fortunate to have you along. Please don't be concerned if a day is missed in our tale...there will be days ahead when there will be no internet service.
